Excursions and Incursions

Excursions play an important role in the delivery of curriculum.  Shared experiences through incursions and excursions provide stimulus and enrichment to classroom programs. They are inline with the classes current studies and add to, and enrich, the learning process. Excursions and incursions often put into context other studies and are exciting and meaningful to students.

Local community excursions (such as to the Kensington Community Centre) are covered by the local walk note that parents are asked to sign at the beginning of the year.

Excursions outside the local vicinity will require a separate signed excursion form which takes the form of our school payment & permission envelope and is provided alongside a note explaining the excursion to children prior to the event. Parents are also asked to include a medical action plan if your child has medical issues that require it.

School Camp/s

Camping and/or sleepover experiences are a wonderful opportunity for students 3,4,5 & 6 and are a great bonding experience.  They encourage students to foster positive relationships with one another and further develop their independence in a different educational setting.  Grades to be offered the camping experience varies from year to year.  The camps are held at a variety of locations, depending on topics being studied, numbers and grade configurations.

Camp Manyung Reflections:

Camp Manyung was fun. I think everyone enjoyed the Giant Swing and lots of people went all the way to the top. On Tuesday night we got into groups with 13 people in them and we did heaps of activities. Jackie did an activity where you cut up Freddo Frogs and ate them if you threw three heads or three tails in a row. Nuccia did dancing, Kevin did quiet board games. The food was really yummy and I got to know lots of people.

On the 4-5-6, camp to Camp Manyung near Mt Eliza, most kids enjoyed the bus ride. And then we finally got there and everyone was happy and we talked about the environment. And everyone went to their cabins and then we stared to activities. Full of fun.  The thing I think about the camp is that you can make new friends and learn  new things.
