Duo-Core2 PCs to begin updating the computer lab in the library.
Received quote on installing a new
electronic whiteboard. To go ahead at the end of this year in one of the
classrooms.
Trials on
recording TV through the TV tuner card in the whiteboard's PC have proved
reasonably successful.

Lots of
E-waste was removed from storage areas and taken to the Moonee Ponds Transfer
Station with thanks to Ella & Zoe's Mum for her assistance in doing so.

The new
PCs are humming along nicely and getting a good work out in the senior area.
With more students this year, we
have been allocated more technical support time, which is fantastic news for
keeping our machines in order.
We have just purchased a new colour
printer for printing photos and other special pieces of work such as graduation
booklets.

At the
recent curriculum day the KPS staff participated in some professional
development on the use of digilearn in the classroom
and other top websites and software available at the school were also discussed.
2-3J presented a snapshot of the
movies, they created using stills and narration, about Australian animals, a
project that all of unit 2 undertook.

completed e-potential survey, designed to provide the school with data to
drive improved ICT teaching and learning.
Jenny ran PD on the use of
DIGILEARN (new online digital resources -including learning objects)
A number of 17inch screens,
keyboards and some mice were donated by a parent (after consulting
Jenny). :)
Aliye (technical support
& multicultural aide) has taken some time off for personal
reasons. He will be temporarily replaced.

Jenny and
Julie attended professional development on digilearn online objects and
discussed the implementation of a whole school teacher survey known as
'e-capabilities survey' designed to support teachers professional
development and help to determine areas for improvement.
Jenny to
present digilearn to staff at upcoming curriculum day and administer
survey. Results of survey to help drive a whole school e-learning
plan to improve ICT use in classes.

ran optional PD on the basic functions of the electronic whiteboard.
Several staff in attendance. Another PD on this planned later in the term.

Aliye and Jenny worked hard during the holidays getting equipment into the
classrooms including new laptop computers for student use and a fancy new
computer to drive the electronic whiteboard.
December 06Kensington Primary School has just purchased an
electronic whiteboard, which combined with the computer driving it
will....act as a whiteboard...but record all pen strokes electronically
for retrieval or highlighting later....play DVDs & TV, display
data, perhaps even cook toast*! .... and be just plain all-round COOL AS!
*note: Any claims of the whiteboard cooking toast
have been sensationalised (o.k. falsified).
