Please note: To enrol at school, children must be at least 5 years of age by the 30th April in the year they start school.  Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.

PLACEMENT POLICY

The Department’s policy is to ensure students have access to neighbourhood schools and the freedom to choose other schools subject to facility limitations. The DE website outlines the guidance used by schools to determine permanent residence, that supports the application of the Placement Policy and provides fair and consistent information for schools to assist in the verification of a student’s permanent residential address.

EVIDENCE OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE 

Parents who wish to enrol their child/children at Kensington Primary School need to demonstrate that the child/children to be enrolled reside within the designated neighbourhood boundary area. Please refer to the Residential Address Check for more information.

FOUNDATION (PREP) ENROLMENT PROCESS FOR 2025

The Department of Education (DE) has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Kensington Primary School.

The new timeline will apply for children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2025. All government primary schools will follow the new timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year.

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2025 at Kensington Primary School from Monday 15th April 2024.

What you need to do:

1. Our school tours have concluded for this year.  Please contact our school either on 9376 6013 or email kensington.ps@education.vic.gov.au for further information or enquiries.

3. Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 26 July 2024
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 29 July and Friday 9 August 2024. If you receive an offer of placement, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 23 August 2024.
5. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2024.  For more details on transition sessions please CLICK HERE.
6. Your child will start Foundation (Prep) on or around Wednesday 29 January 2025 (Date to be confirmed).

Enrolment applications submitted after 26 July 2024 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

To enrol your child or children for 2024 please download the Enrolment Pack below (one per child) and return the completed forms to the school together with the relevant information required as per the Enrolment Checklist for Parents / Guardians. Alternatively – you are most welcome to collect an Enrolment Pack from the school office.
