Please note: To enrol at school, children must be at least 5 years of age by the 30th April in the year they start school. Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.

PLACEMENT POLICY
The Department’s policy is to ensure students have access to neighbourhood schools and the freedom to choose other schools subject to facility limitations. The DE website outlines the guidance used by schools to determine permanent residence, that supports the application of the Placement Policy and provides fair and consistent information for schools to assist in the verification of a student’s permanent residential address.
EVIDENCE OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE
Parents who wish to enrol their child/children at Kensington Primary School need to demonstrate that the child/children to be enrolled reside within the designated neighbourhood boundary area. Please refer to the Residential Address Check for more information.
FOUNDATION (PREP) ENROLMENT PROCESS FOR 2026
The Department of Education (DE) has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Kensington Primary School.

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2026 at Kensington Primary School from Tuesday 22nd April 2025.

Enrolment applications submitted after 25 July 2025 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

To enrol your child or children for 2025 please download the Enrolment Pack below (one per child) and return the completed forms to the school together with the relevant information required as per the Enrolment Checklist for Parents / Guardians. Please remember: You must also submit a copy of your child's Birth Certificate and up to date Immunisation Certificate that can be obtained from Medicare Australia.
