Please note: To enrol at school, children must be at least 5 years of age by the 30th April in the year they start school. Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.

The Department’s policy is to ensure students have access to neighbourhood schools and the freedom to choose other schools subject to facility limitations. The DE website outlines the guidance used by schools to determine permanent residence, that supports the application of the Placement Policy and provides fair and consistent information for schools to assist in the verification of a student’s permanent residential address.

FOUNDATION (PREP) ENROLMENT PROCESS FOR 2025
The Department of Education (DE) has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Kensington Primary School.
The new timeline will apply for children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2025. All government primary schools will follow the new timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year.

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2025 at Kensington Primary School from Monday 15th April 2024.

Enrolment applications submitted after 26 July 2024 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

To enrol your child or children for 2024 please download the Enrolment Pack below (one per child) and return the completed forms to the school together with the relevant information required as per the Enrolment Checklist for Parents / Guardians. Please remember: You must also submit a copy of your child's Birth Certificate and up to date Immunisation Certificate that can be obtained from Medicare Australia.
